TAC: Andover Controls
Overview |
| |
TAC is a leading high-tech manufacturer of "Smart Building" systems.
Our systems help building owners manage their facilities more efficiently — to reduce energy
consumption and operating costs; improve occupants’ comfort and safety; optimize
productivity; protect assets from theft and vandalism; provide life safety measures; and
access your building’s information when it’s needed and in a way that is easy to understand
and use.
Founded in 1975, Andover Controls has more than
100,000 facility management systems installed worldwide
in a wide variety of applications, including offices, manufacturing sites, retail locations, hospitals,
sports arenas, correctional facilities, schools, and other facilities of any size. Our systems
are in the tallest building in the world, the Petronas Twin Towers in Malaysia, controlling the
shopping environment in the Mall of America in Minnesota, and opening and closing the domed roof in the
Bank One Ballpark Stadium in Arizona.
All manufacturing is done on-site at our factory
headquarters in North Andover, Massachusetts, USA with
all products made to the highest standards of
internationally recognized quality and 100% tested
prior to shipment.
TAC’s technical centers located in the US, UK, Germany, France, Mexico, Poland, and Hong Kong provide our customers the project engineering, technical, and training support they need to effectively manage their own building systems.
System Integration Services (SIS) is the U.S. based turnkey engineering and construction division of TAC Corporation, utilizing branch offices in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Puerto Rico, and Singapore. SIS specializes in mission critical applications, including laboratories, pharmaceutical production suites, and validation services.
Our digital video division,
Integral
Technologies, based in Indianapolis, Indiana,
is a premier manufacturer of digital video
surveillance systems that work seamlessly with our
automation products.
TAC was acquired in July 2004 by
Schneider Electric, the world's leading specialist
in power and control. TAC and TAC AB
of Sweden, another Schneider company specializing
in building automation, have combined to create
the foundation for Schneider Electric's growth
platform in the building automation industry.
Together, Andover Controls and TAC provide added
value through building services for indoor
climate, security, and use of energy, delivered
with advanced technology and integrated solutions
for building IT.
The new combined company has 2,700 employees
worldwide and projected revenue of $700 million
for 2004. More information is available on the

Historical
Timeline: 4 Decades of Technology Leadership
|
Since our inception in 1975 as the manufacturer of Sunkeeper, a programmable building control system,
TAC has introduced dozens of innovations to the controls industry. We were the first to offer fully user-programmable products, and the first to promote direct digital control.
During the 1980s, we became the first to pioneer the concept of Direct Digital Control (DDC) technology for automation of building equipment systems with
TAC's second generation of products, the AC256 system. And in the 1990s, we introduced our Ethernet-based third generation product line, Infinity, with the world’s first controller-based web server.
Today we enter a new century of integrated building control, with "cutting-edge" web-based technologies, BACnet and other “open” communications protocols, and advanced energy management strategies and video integration in our fourth generation product
line—Continuum®.
What TAC provides its customers today, becomes the industry standard tomorrow.
