SNMP: Receive Facility Alarms |
| |
|
Continuum® SNMP Alarming integrates easily into any network management platform...
Did you know you can monitor power, UPS systems, batteries, room temperature, security card access, digital video surveillance, air
conditioners, and other aspects of the physical environment around your network…all with SNMP? It’s true!
Continuum SNMP Alarming from TAC integrates easily into any network
management platform, such as HP OpenView or CA-Unicenter. This integration gives network
managers a view beyond just the network gear, into the facility itself.
|
|
Receive Alarms as SNMP TRAPS when:
|
- Main facility power is interrupted
- Backup power engages
- A security camera has sensed motion and recorded video in a critical area
- An unauthorized person has entered a secure network area
- Temperature or humidity rise to a level that can affect network reliability
|
|
How Do We Do It?
|
A Continuum network controller monitors all aspects of the network’s physical environment. The controller is part of the IP network, and supports SNMP discovery, mapping, and alarming. When a facility alarm occurs, the controller sends an SNMP TRAP to the
NMS.
It’s that simple!
